Help us take action for animals this Mandela Month

Mandela Day is on 18 July, but for the animals who need help, the work starts long before then. This Mandela Month, Kloof & Highway SPCA is aligning our fundraising with the true spirit of Mandela Day: taking action where it is needed most and creating real, lasting change in our communities.

From 1–18 July 2026, we are raising vital funds for our Outreach Clinic programme, beginning with our upcoming KwaNgcolosi Outreach Clinic from 7–9 July.

Your donation before Mandela Day will help us prepare for this important clinic and ensure that animals in the KwaNgcolosi community receive the veterinary care, protection, and support they need. Funds raised through this campaign will also help us continue running Outreach Clinics throughout the year, reaching more animals and more communities.

Where Your Donation Goes

For three days in KwaNgcolosi, our dedicated team, together with three veterinarians working tirelessly, aims to sterilise at least 200 cats and dogs. But this clinic is about so much more than numbers.

Every animal treated through the clinic will receive essential care, including:

• Sterilisation
• Rabies vaccination
• Treatment for internal and external parasites
• A bag of food
• A warm, cosy blanket to take home

For many families, access to veterinary care is limited. Our Outreach Clinics help bridge that gap by taking vital animal healthcare directly into communities where it is needed most.

More Than a Clinic — A Chance to Educate and Empower

Because the KwaNgcolosi Outreach Clinic takes place during the school holidays, it also gives us a valuable opportunity to connect with children and teenagers in the community.

Through education and conversation, we help young people understand:

• Who to call when an animal needs help
• How to recognise and report animal cruelty
• How to care for their own animals
• Why sterilisation and vaccinations are so important
• How kindness and responsibility can protect pets, farm animals, and local wildlife

This is the heart of real change: helping animals today, while building knowledge and compassion that can protect many more animals in the future.

Mandela Day reminds us that change is in our hands. By donating from 1 July, your support can already be hard at work before Mandela Day arrives, helping us prepare for the KwaNgcolosi Outreach Clinic from 7–9 July and supporting lifesaving outreach work throughout the year. Every rand truly counts.

Your Donation Can Help Provide:

R50 — treatment for internal and external parasites
R100 — feed a dog or a cat for a week
R200 — medication and essential surgical items
R500 — a life-changing sterilisation for one animal
