Ride With Sarah & Support the Brown Dogs No One Sees
The Kloof & Highway SPCA is proud to support our incredible Operations Manager, Sarah Van Heerden, as she takes on the Ride Across South Africa, a grueling, unsupported 2000km cycle race from Richmond in KwaZulu‑Natal to Wellington in the Western Cape. This is one of the toughest endurance challenges in the country… and Sarah is doing it for the dogs who are too often ignored - the brown dogs!
A Leader With a Heart for the Invisible
Sarah leads our team with her trademark no‑nonsense courage, positivity, and “tackle‑everything‑head‑on” attitude. She inspires every staff member to see what others overlook, fight for the voiceless, and show up with compassion every single day.
And if you know Sarah, you also know this:
She has a special place in her heart for brown dogs, the ones people overlook, pass by, or dismiss as “just another dog”.
“Not a day goes by where just another brown dog doesn’t break our hearts. The invisible dog… overlooked for the cute little poodle next door. Their lives matter, and they are asking to be seen.”
The 2026 Mission: Sterilise as Many Brown Dogs as Possible
By taking on this unbelievable challenge, Sarah hopes to raise the funds needed to sterilise countless brown dogs in our community . Giving them a chance at healthier, safer lives and preventing future generations from suffering unseen.
