A ‘wish list from our clinic

Our creed is to give any animal that comes into our clinic the very best of care.  But veterinary medical equipment is no less expensive than that for human treatment and is an ongoing expense for our clinic.  Below is a glimpse of present needs with their prices.  Any help towards these would be greatly appreciated.

  • Three spay cradles at R1345 each
  • Animal Handling Support Systems: Two syringe poles at R3850 each

Putting fuel into our SPCA Inspectorate 

Ensuring that our Inspectorate and collection vehicles can always respond to a call out adds up to a whopping fuel bill of around R65 000 per month. 

And you can imagine how each increase in the price of fuel really impacts on our budget.  As in so many other ways, we rely on people who care about animals to help us with this, resulting in our Feel Good Fuel Campaign through which anyone can make a donation. 

This can be done when you’re filling up at the Kloof Engen garage where we have our account, and where staff will be wearing identifying caps and lanyards with our Zapper code. And all the staff here at the SPCA – at reception, in the tea garden, Village Green and at the thrift shops will be wearing lanyards and brooches featuring the Zapper code – as will our Inspectors.  Or you could make a deposit into our bank account:

Dalgen Kloof and Highway SPCA Trail Run

The Dalgen Kloof and Highway SPCA trail run

Who wouldn’t want to spend time in Giba Gorge with its lush vegetation, waterfalls and adventure opportunities?

That said, please join us there for our Trail Run at 4pm on the 21st of March as a perfect way to enjoy the public holiday of Human Rights Day.

You can take part as a competitor, supporter, or simply as a spectator, with the restaurant right there for when hunger or thirst needs to be satisfied, and dogs on leads are most welcome.

Entries can be done online by clicking here and on-site from 3pm on the day at R100 for the 10km run and R50 for the 5km run.

Hill’s Trail Run

Our Hills Trail Run, held on Sunday 11 September, was a wonderful event and it was so uplifting to watch all the dogs and their owners happily making their way through our nature reserve.

Thank you to every person and dog who participated and to our main sponsor Hill’s Pet Nutrition for their constant support of our Kloof and Highway SPCA.

Heritage Day

Thank you so much to every animal loving South African who joined the Kloof and Highway SPCA to celebrate Heritage Day 2022! An incredible fun filled, festive day celebrated with dancing, laughter and colour. Thank you to Kevin Ellis and all of the extraordinary and talented dancers who performed on our stage. Kainon School Visit

Thank You to the Teachers and Grade 1 learners of Kainon School for visiting our Kloof and Highway SPCA for a tour and for the wonderful donations for our animals.

It is always a pleasure to help educate our youngsters on animal welfare as they are the future and we need compassionate leaders in the future who will ensure animals are treated with kindness and help combat cruelty to animals.
