Sterilisation Clinic – saving lives one sterilisation at a time!

Sterilisation Clinic – saving lives one sterilisation at a time!

Our Outreach team were able to sterilise 119 animals and prevented many unwanted litters from being born.

Each dog and cat went home with a bag of food and a warm blanket, once they were discharged by our recovery Volunteers.

Our Inspectorate team had the opportunity to educate so many pet owners and spoke to them about the benefits of sterilisation, basic healthcare such as Rabies, internal and external parasites and how to contact our Kloof and Highway SPCA to report cruelty or in case of an emergency.

This would not have been possible without YOUR generous donations – with your support we managed to raise enough funds to pay the costs of our Clinic, thank YOU. We will continue to do Outreach sterilisations in our Clinic for our Community and educate owners.

A special thank you to Mtt Structures International for sponsoring our marquee, and to everyone who worked and volunteered at our Outreach Clinic, we had the most amazing 2-day Outreach Clinic thanks to you all and to everyone who visited our Kloof and Highway SPCA to support us.

Ales For Tails

Ales for Tails Craft Beer, Gin & Music Festival is a passionately-supported fundraiser where home brewers, commercial breweries & distilleries, musicians, food traders and volunteers pull together to support the Kloof and Highway SPCA. This year it was held again on 6 August after a break due to Covid. Thank you to Warren for organising such an amazing event for our animals. To all the brewers who donated their brew and gave of their time, the musicians who shared their talent and all those involved, we are so grateful for your generosity. Thank you to the public who came along and supported this event. Special thanks to Brain Legemaate for the beautiful photographs taken for Ales For Tails.

Killarney Brick & Block Golf Day

On Friday 19th August The Kloof and Highway SPCA Killarney Brick and Block Golf Day was held at Kloof Country Club. Even the cold and slight drizzle could not dampen the day. We had a wonderful turnout and the day was a huge success. We would like to thank every golfer and tee sponsor who took part and made it what it was.

Thank you to Killarney Brick & Block for consistently being one of our biggest supporters. To those donors and supporters who were involved in the very generous prizes and support thank you, you all know who you are. We look forward to seeing you all in 2023!

Thomas More College Fair

Congratulations to Chelsey Burns who won the Thomas More Fair Kloof and Highway SPCA stand raffle. The Country Fair is a popular annual event on the TMC calendar, Tombola, a games alley, second-hand bookstall, a beer tent, a tea garden, a House of Horrors, arena events and a lifestyle expo are some of the regular activities on the day.

Be Kind To Every Kind promotion at The Mushroom Farm

On Sunday 5 June a Be Kind to Every Kind promotion was held on the deck outside our Reading Rooster Book Store. This was part of The Country Living Fair. Thank you to our fabulous Dog walkers Bernie and Judy who were joined by Honey and Roxy who were both adopted from the Kloof and Highway SPCA and the public were encouraged to adopt when looking for a new pet. Kerry Carter displayed her maginificent artwork and our Be Kind to Every Kind booklets were sold.

Dog Box 2022

The annual Kloof and Highway SPCA Dog Box challenge was a wonderful success with over R300 000 being raised by our amazing inmates! 39 participants took on the challenge of raising R10 000 each for the Kloof & Highway SPCA. The inmates braved the cold and were “locked up” for 24 hours from 12 noon on Friday, 27 May 2022 until 12 noon on Saturday, 28 May 2022.

On the Friday evening visitors to the kennels enjoyed ice-cold Gin and Tonic or Craft Beer with Brew Krew, some delicious curry from The Curry Lady, decadent cupcakes from Sweetheart Treats, and fiery entertainment from Gareth Greaves and Kimona Kirsten.

This year the Dog Box was dedicated to the many animals who lost their lives and to the many animals who have been severely affected by the KZN Floods in April 2022. The Kloof and Highway SPCA will continue to support and assist all those who still require our help. During the aftermath of the KZN floods our Inspectorate team went out daily and we were able to distribute over a ton of food, blankets, beds, and water to badly affected areas. We are committed to being actively involved in outreach. We thank everyone who visited the inmates in our kennels and all those who help us continue the fight against animal cruelty!

If you would like to assist in any other animal related projects, host your own fundraiser/ awareness campaign, sponsor a kennel or cattery enclosure, sponsor a sterilisation, leave a legacy for the animals etc.; please contact Janine Kyle on pr@kloofspca.co.za

A wonderful celebration was held in our Tea Garden with Roberta Alessandri Models being styled by the talented Gareth Greaves and Kevin Ellis from our Hidden Treasures and Ella Bella Boutique. Schools & Community

Schools & Community

Learners from Berea West Senior Primary held a “Help the animals” project for the Kloof and Highway SPCA this past term.

The Grade 5 teachers focused on animal welfare and educating the children on being kind to all sentient beings.

Janine Kyle of Kloof and Highway SPCA visited the school and gave a presentation in the school hall. R1900 was handed over to Janine as well as a tin full of donations of money from the children.

Food and blankets for the animals were also collected.

Janine would like to thank the Management, teachers, parents and pupils for being aware of the plight of all animals and for wanting to learn more about animal welfare and helping animals.
